Clean the Dream

History of “Clean the Dream”

“Clean the Dream” began in 2015 by Brandon Kramer & Landon Mayer. Both anglers were bothered by the amount of trash left behind by outdoor enthusiasts on one of their favorite stretches of water on the South Platte River in Colorado. Trash and debris on the watershed can be hazardous for trout and animals and unsightly for everyone. The two felt the need to make a difference and at the same time provide community support and education on how to protect these resources for future generations. The two first had to get approval from Colorado Parks & Wildlife, then they rallied volunteers to clean up the area around the three-mile long section of the South Platte River, also known as “The Dream Stream,” which is at the Charlie Meyers State Wildlife Area. In 2019 a total of 765 pounds of trash was collected by 125 volunteers. During COVID-19 there has been a 200% increase in outdoor activity, so more trash is to be expected. This event is even more important now than it was in the past.
