Tom Rosenbauer – How To Choose The Right Fly Fishing Equipment

92 Flyer

What can I say, Tom Rosenbauer is the founder and pioneer when it comes to fly fishing podcasts.  His work with Orvis, the information he shares on The Orvis Podcast, the fly box, the Orvis Online Learning Center and all his other work including his books and his work on The New Fly Fisher has made him a legend and an absolute gem within the fly fishing community.

For his contributions, Tom received The American Museum of Fly Fishing Izaak Walton Award in 2019.

Back for a second time on the Fly Fishing Journeys podcast, in this episode, we learn about Tom’s story and history with Orvis, how and why he stayed with one company for over 46 years, how he has written over 20 books on fly fishing, his tie off’s with Tim Flagler and much more.

As we move into the next part of the pod, I ask Tom how to pick quality fly fishing equipment. Particularly how to go about choosing a quality fly fishing rod, reel and line. We finished talking about some of the latest product releases from Orvis.

If you want to meet Tom, get a book signed or possibly take one of his fly tying classes, come to the International Fly Tying Symposium on Nov 11 & 12, 2023 at the Hilton DoubleTree in Somerset, NJ.
