This itinerary has been curated for you as these prime, spring weeks provide some of the finest trout and char fishing you can do in the world. The five river program offers you an amazing variety of fisheries where you can enjoy a variety of fishing styles. These styles include dry fly, nymphing, wet fly and streamer fishing. This is truly a world-class trip.

Arrive at the airport in Akureyri where our staff will be on hand to facilitate your transfer to the lodge. After getting unpacked, we'll get wadered up and hit the river for a great half day of fishing. We'll return to the lodge where our culinary chef will be preparing a wonderful meal for our first evening together in Iceland.

Meals Included: Dinner

Accommodations: Myrarkvisl River Lodge

During the next three days, you will enjoy some of the best rivers in all of Iceland.

As part of the five-river program, during these days we will fish our first three:

  • Myrarkvisl River
  • Laxa I Adaldal

On day five we move to the northeast of the country and fish two amazing fisheries, the Bruná and the Lonsá rivers. During these days you'll get a chance at a true trophy, monster Sea Run Brown Trout and Sea Run Arctic Char. We stay the unique and amazing Ytra Lon Lodge, which is on a working sheep farm. It doesn't get more Iceland than this. These moments will prove to be some of the most magical of the trip and maybe even your life.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Be ready for some amazing photography opportunities.
  • You want to reserve your flights to Akureyri which is in northern Iceland. You will fly into Keflavik first, take a shuttle transfer to Reykyavik where you will catch your flight to Akureyri. It is quite simple and will be discussed on our team Zoom call.
  • Varied weather. It could be absolutely sunny and gorgeous, and it could be blowing the dickens, it is Iceland after all. Spring and early summer is typically mild though. The key is layering. I typically go with T-Shirt and long sleeve shirt (both wicking) and then a sweater or a fleece jacket. I bring a good raincoat for rain or wind. This laying system works perfectly for all conditions.
  • I carry a 5 & 7 weight rod for this trip. A 6 & 8 weight rods will also work perfectly. Weight forward floating trout style lines will be great. Have a sink tip or tip system available. For this spring season, nymphing methods will prove effective. We can often find a hatch so dries and wet flies as emergers work great. For the big sea-run browns and char, big streamers are the key. Kelly Galloup style streamers are great, in browns and olive. More discussion on flies during the group Zoom calls.
